CLASSES

  • Nurturing Parenting Skills- Parents learn how to handle feelings, communicate needs, how to be empathetic, and how to take charge of their own behavior. They learn to establish nurturing routines for regular family affairs such as bedtime and mealtimes. Parents learn to replace hitting and yelling with more effective discipline techniques as well as learning to give and receive healthy touch. (12 week group workshop format) 
  • Compassion Workshop- Parens come to understand the root causes of their emotions and learn to deal constructively with those emotions. Compassion Workshop offers a process for parents to use to control and dissipate their anger. (12 week group workshop format.)
  • Teen Parenting Skills- The same curriculum as our Nurturing Parenting Skills and Compassion Workshop but geared to the teen-age parent. The interactive, group setting encourages full participation and includes hands-on activities, videos and group discussions. Included are topics specifically for teenagers such as dating, safe sex, and birth control. Emphasis is placed on learning to accept adult responsibilities of being a parent. 
  • Batterer's Intervention Program- This class is certified by the office of the Attorney General. Its is a 52-week group as specified in the Oklahoma state statute. Groups are offered for male and female clients seperately. Topics include personal responsibility and the effects of violence on others, issues of power and control, beliefs that promote domestic violence, and tools for healthy relationships. 

 

OTHER SERVICES

  • Parent-Child Observations- These 30 minute sessions allow parents to interact with their children while being observed by a PAC staff member through a two-way mirror. This allows staff to assists parents in applying what they've learned in class.
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy- A hands-on intervention for parents and children with difficult situations. Parents engage in direct interactions with their children while wearing an earpiece in order to hear instructions from staff, while staff observes through a one-way mirror. 
  • Access and Visitation- Our supervised visitation services are designed to provide a safe environment for visits between children and their non-custodial parent. Parents and their children may enjoy their time together in one of our family rooms while being unobtrusively supervised by our staff.
  • Neutral Drop-off- Your child may be dropped off at PAC and a secondary party can pick up the child up.
